The Beautiful ridiculous

A light edges its way across his face

a turn of lip, a snarl, silly smirk

a voice disguised

a song obscured

an atmosphere transformed.

Hilarity explodes.

Brilliantly ridiculous.

Until…the gut is punched.

No joke to be heard

No laugh to be shared

and the comic is silenced.

Lips ripple a mumble.

Vibrancy of light dims

but spark remains

in a song, quieted to a hum

awaiting the sleepy dream of peace

as it settles

a tranquil surrender,

and life’s burdensome weight

is finally relieved.
