Deeply MUSED
Meaning in memory
Face at the front
Words worthy marking
Peace-ful in pause
Tethered to terror
NIGHTMARE still near
Hoping in holding
Days to declare
Slowly they’re ceasing
Lives lost and lived
Compressing composing
Grasping for grip
Attic awakened
Opening overwhelms
Waiting and wondering
Impending impact swells.

So well captured Paula. I’ve been to Anne Frank’s museum and attic a lot when I lived in Amsterdam and every time you see the stairs behind the bookcase you shrivel in sadness and fear. I think because it’s such a simple scene, a bookcase, a part of everyday life and learning and yet behind it lay so much life being wasted in hiding! When will we learn? Big hugs
Thank you, Dami. I am Envious of you. The Attic is top of my bucket list. I have held a deep affinity toward Anne since I was a pre-teen. I still marvel at how she kept it together. Someday I’ll get to the House, someday. Best to you.
Wow. Great tribute. I also appreciate Mr Dami’s reflection on it.
Thank you and I agree. 🙂
